Homicide suspect Shilo Englert, 33, was connected to a February vehicle theft through fingerprints left at the scene. The stolen car was recovered days before Bellingham Police Department began searching for Englert for the murder of Kasaundra “Kassy” Booker

On Feb. 5, BPD recovered a stolen vehicle from the 1400 block of Lincoln Street, parked outside of Englert’s residence. A BPD crime scene investigator located two firearms inside the vehicle and a fingerprint was found on a metal tool inside the car. A crime scene investigator processed the fingerprint April 4 and found it belonged to Englert.

On Feb. 8, Booker was found dead from a gunshot wound at the 22 North building. Detectives determined Englert was the suspect after reviewing video surveillance of the building and arrested him Feb. 20

Englert is currently in custody in Whatcom County Jail. He will have an arraignment April 15
