Squalicum wraps up dual season with record-breaking win over Bellingham

Cratsenberg, Fisk break school records ahead of postseason

Competitors on both teams broke school records as Squalicum boys swim beat Bellingham, 104-72, in both teams’ final dual meet of the season on Tuesday, Jan. 30 at Arne Hanna Aquatic Center.

The Storm won eight of 12 events as Dylan Fisk set a new Squalicum record in the 200-yard individual medley (1:56.56) and became the first boys swimmer in program history to qualify for the 2A state meet in all eight individual events.

Fisk also helped Squalicum’s 200- and 400-yard freestyle relay teams to first-place finishes.

Bellingham’s Miles Cratsenberg finished just ahead of Fisk in the 200-yard individual medley, breaking the Bayhawks’ school record with his first-place time of 1:53.43. Cratsenberg also captured first in the 100-yard breaststroke with his time of 1:01.04.

The Storm’s Michael Ciatti and Hayden Nelson each collected a pair of first-place finishes as well. Ciatti claimed top finishes in the 50-yard freestyle (24.93 seconds) and 100-yard freestyle (55.45), with Nelson leading the 100-yard butterfly (1:07.06) and 100-yard backstroke events. Matthew Aussem finished first in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:19.37.

Bellingham’s Parker Kiniry won the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 6:11.39, and Myles Ludwig captured first place in the 1-meter dive with a score of 136.85.

Both teams will have swimmers try to get final bids to districts at the Northwest Conference B Championships at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 2 at Arne Hanna Aquatic Center.
