LC outlasts Nooksack Valley with powerful fifth inning

Lyncs beat Pioneers 8-5

Lynden Christian’s six-run fifth inning powered it to an 8-5 win over Nooksack Valley on Friday, April 12 at Lynden Christian High School.

Senior Jonah Terpstra, junior Eli Maberry and sophomore Austin Engels each logged two hits for the Lyncs, while Engels also had two RBIs. LC won its fourth game in the last five.

Senior Eduardo Cerda led NV, finishing 2 for 4 with a run scored and an RBI. Junior Colby Martin went 2 for 4 with two RBIs.

LC bounced back from a demoralizing shutout loss to Anacortes that snapped a three-game win streak. The Lyncs’ next game will be against Mount Baker (2-10, 1-8 Northwest Conference) on the road at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 16.

NV’s next game will be a home contest against against Blaine (7-6, 3-6 NWC) at 6 pm. on Tuesday, April 16.
