The Western Washington University men’s basketball team will host three games in the next five days.
The highlight of the three will be rival Central Washington University coming to town for a 7 p.m. Saturday match. This will be the first time the Vikings and Wildcats take the same court since the 2019-20 season because of the pandemic.
The season series was split with the Vikings earning a 80-69 win on Jan. 2, 2020, and the Wildcats winning in Ellensburg 82-60 in February 2020.
Western has won six of the last eight against Central and 11 in a row at Carver Gym.
The Vikings are 8-6 overall this season with a 1-3 record in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference. Seven of those wins have come at home.
Fans will be allowed to attend for the first time since the end of December 2021. A previous pause was put on spectator attendance by the university to combat the surge of the omicron variant in the community.
The original fan policy for this season is back in place, requiring proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours for all fans age 12 or older. Masks are required regardless of vaccination status.
Tickets can be purchased in advance at wwuvikings.com/tickets or at the Carver Gym Box Office.
A previous version of this story incorrectly stated the year of fan attendance, which is 2021. The story has been updated to correct the error at 1:40 p.m. Jan. 27. Cascadia Daily News regrets the error.
