More than 300 people showed up to the 8th Box Jam hosted by Boardworks Tech Shop at Time and Materials Taphouse Jan. 14. It was the first Box Jam in three years due to the pandemic.
Johnny Lupo, one of the event organizers, said eight dump truck loads of snow from Mount Baker and more than 20 truck beds of snow from the Sportsplex ice rink were hauled in.
Box Jam featured a ramp, a jump, an 18-foot flatbox, an up-flat-down rail and a quarterpipe. The setup allowed for both snowboarders and skiers to participate.
“We are a snowboard-only shop. We have mad love for our ski friends,” Lupo said. “And this event brings them together.”
