This week has a lot of music for Art Walk, two big celebrations on Saturday and some honest-to-goodness legends coming to town.

News

Bellingham Axe has started having occasional live music. They’ve even got a little stage.

Live music at the Kulshan Trackside stage will be on Wednesdays, starting next week.

I Love You Avalanche is taking over the Friday night residency at Honey Moon for the month of June.

Picks of the week

Thursday, June 2 features two great shows at once at the Mount Baker Theatre, with the Violent Femmes on the main stage and mother/daughter folk duo Suzzy Roche and Lucy Wainwright Roche on the side stage.

First Fridays are always big downtown with some extra live music to go along with Art Walk. Highlights on Friday, June 3 include danceable, horn-driven funk with Cozmic Sauce at Boundary, gypsy jazz with Nuages at Uisce, and Bird Senses Danger and Heroes at Wink Wink.

On Saturday, June 4, you don’t have to be a student to celebrate the end of the school year at Western Washington University’s Lawnstock. Headliners include Naked Giants and TeZATalks. Aslan is celebrating its eighth anniversary all day with a lineup that includes Chong the Nomad and The Whags. If you’re looking for something quieter that night, the folk duo Storyhill at the FireHouse might be the way to go.

Sunday is for rocking old school, with Seattle grunge pioneers Mudhoney at the Wild Buffalo and stoner metal veterans Bongzilla at the Shakedown.

To top it all off, Zach Keisinger brings his quietly beautiful originals to the Blue Room on Tuesday, June 7.
