Gallery: Nooksack Days Pow Wow

Dozens of people, some donning full regalia from different tribal nations, gathered at the Nooksack Days Pow Wow on Sunday, Sept. 24 at the Nooksack Mi’sq’eq’o Property in Everson, hosted by the Nooksack Indian Tribe.

Celebrants of all ages — from toddlers to those in their “golden years” — danced, sang and competed in traditional, grass, jingle and fancy dance division to the beat of drums for cash prizes. The Powwow also honored the Nooksack royalty — a group of girls and young women who earned the titles of queen, senior princess, junior princess and tiny tot.

This year, the Nooksack Indian Tribe celebrated 50 years since receiving federal recognition as a tribe. The weekend of celebrations included dinners, jam sessions and competitive rounds of stickgame in several tournaments.
