Take a look at any of the Ruckus Room’s social media accounts and you might wonder why it looks like a fan account for a stuffed pickle.

That’s Mr. Pickle.

The stuffed cucumber was a popular prize at the arcade prior to the onset of COVID-19. Once the pandemic shut down businesses, the owners of Ruckus Room Arcade and Fun Center wanted to find a way to keep customers engaged.

“It’s ‘Night at the Museum’ and he’s going to get trapped in the arcade,” said Emmalyn Smith, Ruckus Room’s co-owner. “He’s going to get up to shenanigans and post every day for a couple of months.”

As the pandemic wore on, Mr. Pickle made nearly one post every day for a year. He is known to dance and make announcements on behalf of Ruckus Room. The stylish vegetable also totes a handful of hats for many occasions, all knit by Smith.

The Ruckus Room’s downtown location is Mr. Pickle’s home, but his brother — or cousin (it got lost in the lore) — keeps an eye on the Bellis Fair location.

The downtown location is currently out of pickle prizes, but fear not — a new shipment will be on the way soon.
