Straight’s big night leads Bellingham past Lynden

Bayhawks earn 4-2 home win over Lions

By Connor J. Benintendi Sports Editor

Bellingham senior Judah Straight notched a hat trick and the Bayhawks earned a 4-2 win over Lynden on Saturday, March 23 at Bellingham High School.

Sophomore Eduardo Briseno and senior Joshua Grace scored for Lynden (3-3-1), but it wasn’t enough to overcome Straight’s electric night for Bellingham (5-1-0). The Bayhawks won their third straight game following a season-opening loss to rival Sehome on Tuesday, March 12.

Lynden, on the other hand, had a two-game win streak snapped with the loss. The Lions had shut out Lakewood and Meridian by a combined 9-0 score over their past two games.

Next up for Bellingham is a home game versus Anacortes (2-2-1) at 7 p.m. on Monday, March 25. Lynden will have a tough matchup with Sehome (5-0-0) at 4:30 p.m. on the same day.
