Two charged following drive-by shooting in Bellingham

Suspects face felony charges, remain in custody

Two people have been charged in relation to a Saturday, Feb. 24 drive-by shooting off Bakerview Road.

Chomreun Sok and Michael Raymond King have both been charged with two Class B felonies: one count of drive-by shooting each and one count of first-degree malicious mischief with damage exceeding $5,000 each.

Bellingham police responded to reports of shots fired at 2:55 p.m. Saturday near the corner of Bakerview Road and Hannegan Road, according to Bellingham Police Public Information Officer Megan Peters. Bullets struck the TKK construction company building and cartridges were found in the area. One person was in the building, but had no injuries.

According to affidavits of probable cause filed in Whatcom County Superior Court, Sok and Raymond were both under the influence of alcohol and possessed a handgun. The person in the building at the time of the shooting was a stranger to them, according to court documents.

Both appeared in court on February 26, and their arraignments are set for March 8 at 8:30 a.m. They remain in custody Whatcom County Jail as of March 1.
