New eatery brings NY, Italian ‘flair’ to the Granary

Mercato Delle Bontà will offer takeaway, imported goods

By Jemma Alexander News Intern

A new Italian eatery will be coming to 1211 Granary Ave. in a few months.

Mercato Delle Bontà, meaning “the market of goodness,” will offer coffee, deli products, imported goods, and take and bake prepared food, owner Julia Tzortzatos said.

There is no set opening date yet, but the owners are hoping for sometime in April. Tzortzatos and her husband, Francesco Di Vito, moved to Bellingham in July from New York City. Di Vito is originally from Milan, arriving in the U.S. in 2009.

“Our hope is to bring something to the area that resembles what we’re accustomed to getting in New York or Italy,” Tzortzatos said.

The couple teased the opening on their Instagram.
