Senior guard Madi Cooper’s 20 points led Sehome, and the No. 4-seeded Mariners beat No. 3 Burlington-Edison 59-46 in the 2A District 1 consolation semifinals on Thursday, Feb. 15 at Mount Vernon High School.

Sehome (14-7) bounced back from its 40-point loss to Lynden on Saturday, Feb. 10 by winning two in a row, and the Mariners’ win over the Tigers eliminated Burlington-Edison (18-6) — a team that reached the 2A state championship a season ago.

Senior guard Emmy Hart added 15 points for Sehome, while senior post Natalie Brewer finished with 11. Junior Chesah Holmes had a game-high 21 for Burlington-Edison. Senior Hannah Herrgesell added 11 for the Tigers, and junior Claire Bishop had 10.

With the win, the Mariners are now one win away from a second straight regional berth. Sehome will face No. 2 Archbishop Murphy (18-5) in a consolation final game at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 17 at Mount Vernon High School.

Archbishop Murphy is coming off a district championship loss, also to Lynden, on Wednesday, Feb. 14.
