A Ferndale man was charged with two counts of rape of a child among other crimes on Tuesday, Feb. 13, according to court documents.

Douglas Calvin Smith Sr., who was arrested by Bellingham police on Feb. 9, was charged for allegedly having sexual intercourse with a 13-year-old — second-degree rape of a child — and having sexual intercourse with a 15-year-old — third-degree rape of a child.

The 48-year-old man was also charged with being in the possession of child pornography, and communicating with “a minor for immoral purposes.”

One of the victims told police that she and Smith had sexual encounters at the Bellis Inn, noting that they also smoked methamphetamine at that time, according to the police probable cause affidavit.

Smith threatened to “taze” the victim if she ever “snitched” on him, the document states.

“Investigation established that Mr. Smith has multiple young, vulnerable teenage victims with whom he has inappropriate relationships,” according to a police statement.

Smith has a lengthy criminal history that includes third-degree assault, unlawful delivery of a controlled substance, residential burglary and second-degree theft.

Based on criminal history, affidavit of probable cause and other factors, the court denied Smith bail.

Police believe there are more victims in and around Bellingham.

Smith goes by the name “Dre.” On social media, he uses the handles “nononcntz” and “midnightmoney,” according to police. Anyone with information about Smith are asked to contact Bellingham police.
