Bellingham could see temperatures reach the high 80s between Thursday and Friday with potential haze from wildfire smoke in the Pacific Northwest, according to the National Weather Service.

The high temperatures have led the NWS to issue a heat advisory for portions of western Washington beginning at noon on Thursday and ending at 9 p.m. on Friday. Portions of western Washington could see temperatures rise as high as the low 90s.

Wildfire smoke from fires in British Columbia as well as eastern Washington could also drift into the area during the time frame, impacting not only air quality but also temperatures.

Temperatures will remain high through Saturday before returning to the 70s on Sunday.

The NWS warns people who are sensitive to heat could be impacted by heat-related illnesses.

In order to avoid heat-related illnesses, make sure to drink plenty of fluids and stay in air-condition rooms if you have access. Also, try to avoid working out in the middle of the day and wear lightweight and loose clothing.

Please remember to not leave young children and pets unattended in cars.
