Meridian boys soccer shutout Blaine, 3-0, on Thursday, April 18 at Meridian High School to extend its lead on the Borderites in the 1A Northwest Conference standings.

The Trojans (8-3-1, 4-1-0 NWC) remain entrenched in a battle for first place with Lynden Christian (6-4-2, 4-0-1 NWC) with just a handful of games remaining in the regular season for both teams. Those two teams will meet on Wednesday, April 24 for a possible title-deciding match.

In the win over Blaine, Meridian was led by goals from junior Kellen Todd, sophomore Damion Hayes and senior Taran Burks. It was the Trojans’ third straight win and fifth shutout victory of the season.

Blaine (7-3-2, 2-2-1 NWC) lost its second straight match after winning three straight from March 30 to April 10. The Borderites will have to face LC in their next game at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, April 22.

Meridian will host Mount Baker (0-6-0, 0-5-0 NWC) at 7 p.m. on April 22.
