Man died from gunshot wound in woods near Tull Road

Bellingham police have identified the victim of a suspected homicide that occurred in the woods near Tull Road early Monday morning, April 15.

Zachariah Janusiewicz, 30, of Everson, died as a result of a shooting. The medical examiner ruled the death as a homicide, according to police.

Just after 3 a.m., officers responded to reports of gunshots from the woods near Tull Road off of East Kellogg Road, according to a police report. Officers found a group of people and a man loaded into a cart with a gunshot wound. Janusiewicz was transported to the hospital and died of his injuries, police said.

The police department deployed K9s and an Unmanned Aircraft System to search for other potential victims and evidence. Detectives and crime scene investigators believe they identified the location where the shooting occurred, according to the report.

No one has been taken into custody. No other victims were located during the search on Monday.
