Lynden’s Kinsley Rector ran away with the first-place title in an eight-team Whatcom County girls golf tournament on Monday, April 8 at Loomis Trail Golf Course.

Despite the wind and all-around dreary conditions, Rector finished with an 18-hole score of 89 — one stroke below her 90 average on the season, which is tied for fifth in the 16-team Northwest Conference.

It was Rector’s second straight event win after finishing first at the Whatcom County Championships on March 28.

The next closest finisher was Lynden Christian’s Madeleine Engels, who tallied a score of 101, and Blaine’s Ellie Tanjuaquio finished third with a score of 105. Squalicum’s Gabriela Conn (111) and Blaine’s Thora Engen (113) finished fourth and fifth, respectively.

Blaine finished first as a team, posting a team score of 610, followed by Meridian in second (612) and Lynden (629) in third.
