Janet Oakley holds a copy of her book "Mist-Chi-Mas" at Village Books in Fairhaven. Oakley, who attended the University of Hawaii, found a connection between her former island home and the Pacific Northwest. Thus, the idea for "Mist-Chi-Mas," which means captive, was born.
