CONNOR’S PICKS

Volleyball: Burlington-Edison at Lynden
7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19, Lynden High School
The big matchup between Northwest Conference heavyweights has arrived. Both Lynden (10-1, 10-0 NWC) and Burlington-Edison (12-0, 10-0 NWC) are undefeated in the league and have been on a collision course all season. Everything comes to a head Thursday, Oct. 19 in Lynden.

The Lions, ranked sixth in WIAA’s RPI, have just one loss on the season, a five-set defeat by Class 4A Curtis back on Sept. 16. Lynden has been red-hot ever since, dropping just one set across eight straight wins, which includes seven consecutive sweeps.

The Tigers, ranked No. 3 in the RPI, have not lost a game all season and have reeled off six straight sweeps.

WWU: Men’s soccer vs. MSU Billings
7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19, Harrington Field
Sitting in third place in the Great Northwest Conference standings, Western (4-4-2, 1-2-1 GNAC) hosts fourth-place Montana State Billings (4-4-1, 1-2-0 GNAC) in a crucial league matchup.

A win would give the Vikings a little breathing room from the middle of the pack. Western has just one win in its last four games and will look to keep its momentum rolling against a Yellowjackets squad that has lost four of its last six.

The Vikings are led offensively by Albin Jonsson, who has a team-high five goals. Andrew Rotter, who has scored two goals and dished out one assist this season, will also be a factor.
