Brick by brick, wall by wall, the old Lighthouse Mission Ministries building on West Holly Street is being ripped down. Demolition of the 50-year-old building began this week to make space for a new 300-bed shelter.
The new shelter, which could house up to 100 more individuals during severe weather, is scheduled to be completed by mid-2024. The $24 million project will replace Lighthouse Mission’s Base Camp shelter on Cornwall Avenue.
Demolition by Ram Construction is expected to finish by the end of the day March 15.
