Driver ejected in hit-and-run crash near Blaine

Two victims hospitalized, suspect fled scene

Two Blaine residents were hospitalized — one was ejected — after a hit-and-run run driver caused them to crash near the intersection of Drayton Harbor Road and Blaine Road in Blaine on March 7, according to Washington State Patrol.

One of the victims, identified by WSP as Blaine resident Ashleigh N. Woodward, 33 was driving eastbound in a Mazda 6 on state Route 548 (Blaine Road) with a 13-year-old female passenger around 5:30 p.m.

Another vehicle attempted to pass Woodward, causing her to overcorrect to the right shoulder and strike two concrete barriers, according to WSP.

Woodward was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected. The 13-year-old passenger was wearing a seat belt and was not ejected. Both were transported to PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center to be treated for their injuries. 

The other vehicle fled the scene. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
