5 teens injured in rollover accident south of Bellingham

Saturday night incident involved alcohol or drugs

Five teenagers were injured in a rollover accident Saturday night, March 4 on Interstate 5 south of Bellingham.

Drugs or alcohol were involved in the accident, according to a Washington State Patrol incident report. 

The driver, a 17-year-old girl from Ferndale, was speeding near mile post 249 around 10:45 p.m. Saturday, when the vehicle veered off the roadway and rolled multiple times, landing on its top, according to WSP.

The driver and four passengers, ranging in age from 15–18, were all transported to St. Joseph Medical Center, the report stated. The passengers included a male and female from Ferndale, a female from Lynden, and a female from Lake Forest Park.

The cause of the accident is under investigation, as well as charges for the driver of the vehicle, according to the report.
