Bellingham City Council, 1:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 14, 210 Lottie St.
Council will discuss a proposal to waive a height limit in Fairhaven for a proposed development in the parking lot known as “The Pit,” in order to make room for public parking, affordable housing, and trail and view corridors.

Council will receive information about the 2023 point-in-time count, the yearly survey of sheltered and unsheltered homeless individuals in Whatcom County. The results, released in June, show the highest number of homeless individuals in the county since counting began in 2008.

Council will consider an ordinance prohibiting recreational vehicles from parking within 1,000 feet of a school, recreation center or other location frequented by children, to protect them from the unwanted behaviors city officials have documented around RV encampments.

The Bellingham Plan. Deadline: 2023

Bellingham is updating its Comprehensive Plan, the document it uses to guide growth toward a 20-year vision for the future. This update is due in 2025 and will guide development, capital investments, city programs and other actions across the city as it works toward its vision for 2045. Survey online.
