Three local teams have crossed the 10-win mark, with Lynden, Ferndale and Meridian each playing three games last week.
The Lions leaped up to third place in the Northwest Conference standings after earning wins over Blaine, Mount Baker and Bellingham by a combined score of 29-5. Lynden holds the best league record (7-2) behind Anacortes and Mount Vernon.
Ferndale beat Nooksack Valley 8-5 on April 11 and downed Burlington-Edison 5-1 on April 12. The Golden Eagles lost their last game of the week to Oak Harbor, 10-8.

Blaine squeezed by Sedro-Woolley, 2-1, on April 14, helping the Borderites stay in the mix at the top of the league with their 5-4 NWC record.
Junior pitcher Diego Gutierrez pitched a complete game, striking out four while allowing six hits and a single earned run for the Borderites. Senior Axel Puls and junior Hunter Vezzetti scored for Blaine, while Vezzetti also drove in one of the runs.
Squalicum, Bellingham and Lynden Christian remain in the middle of the pack, each at least one game under .500 in league games.

Blaine just keeps winning, and the Borderites preserved their undefeated record (7-0, 6-0 NWC) through two games last week.
It’s been all about the defense for Blaine, which is averaging 10.7 runs scored per game while allowing just 1.4. That’s partially outfield play, but it’s also driven by junior budding star pitcher Emersyn Bakker.
In a 7-2 win over LC on April 14, Bakker pitched a complete game, allowing four hits and one earned run while striking out 13 batters.
Mount Baker has won five in a row, jumping up to a tie for second place in the conference. The Mountaineers played just one game last week, beating LC 8-6 on April 12.
Lynden grasps the other side of that tie after winning five of its last six games. The Lions lost to Sedro-Woolley, 10-6, on April 11 but bounced back two days later to run-rule Nooksack Valley 17-6.
Senior Grace Potter led Lynden offensively, finishing 3-for-4 at the plate with three runs scored and two RBIs. Freshman Campbell DeJong batted 2-for-3 with four runs scored while junior Childrey DeJong added four runs scored and three RBIs on two hits.
Squalicum lost both of its games last week, but the Storm remain in the mix with a 4-2 NWC record. Meridian is also hanging around, splitting its two games last week.
