Bellingham Police Department seized 1,963.5 pills of suspected fentanyl, a handgun, $16,807 and eight buprenorphine hydrochloride pills in the arrest of a Ferndale man Wednesday night, police said.
Daniel J. Faix, 37, was arrested on suspicion of four counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver; unlawful possession of a firearm; and possession of prohibited counterfeit substances.
Shortly after 11 p.m. Wednesday, an officer who knew Faix had outstanding warrants saw his vehicle near Meridian and Telegraph streets.
Faix parked his truck, then began walking away from the patrol car, police said. The officer followed Faix on foot and arrested him. Suspected fentanyl pills, powder meth and cash were allegedly found on Faix.
A K-9 prowl of Faix’s truck indicated the presence of narcotics, and officers were granted a warrant to search the rest of the vehicle, locating the drugs, gun and cash, as well as other items related to the packaging, weighing and resale of narcotics, according to police.
Faix, who had an outstanding warrant from Bellingham and Ferndale police, was booked into Whatcom County Jail on $190,000 bail. He has previously been arrested 39 times by BPD, police said.
