Ferndale Police: Suspect who pointed gun at police and fled is arrested

Police set up perimeter around Super 8; suspect arrested without incident

Ferndale Police arrested an individual after they allegedly pointed a rifle at police during a 4:10 a.m. traffic stop on Tuesday, then fled.

The suspect drove off as officers moved into a position of cover, Ferndale Communications Officer Riley Sweeney said. Officers followed the suspect and found the vehicle abandoned near Main Street and Interstate 5 in Ferndale.

The suspect was then spotted going inside the Super 8 at 5788 Barrett Rd. Law enforcement set up a perimeter and safely arrested the suspect around 10:10 a.m., Sweeney said.

“The Ferndale Police would like to thank all of our partner agencies for their support during this incident,” Sweeney wrote in an email.
