The 100th anniversary of the Whatcom Memorial Day Parade on Saturday kicked off a busy weekend of events including the 49th annual Ski to Sea race and the Fairhaven Festival. Dozens of people lined each major intersection as floats, dance troupes, horseback riders, walkers and bikers sashayed down the streets.

Starting at the intersection of Alabama Street and Cornwall Avenue, “Celebrating our Communities and Honoring our Heroes” was the theme of the event.

Saturday’s parade brought the theme to life with commercial entries, schools, fire and law enforcement and all branches of the armed services represented.
