Bellingham’s tourism offseason is getting revitalized in April 2023 with Bellingham Exit, a four-day, all-ages music festival. The event will occupy over 15 venues across the city’s downtown and host more than 80 performances with both national and international headliners.
Festival-goers will enjoy music of all different genres and comedy performances. Familiar Bellingham venues will be transformed with decorations of mountains, forests, oceans and weather in line with the festival’s “Natural World” theme.
A variety of activities and experiences will be available, Community Development and Engagement Manager Tara Sundin said in a statement.
Before it begins, a band competition will generate excitement for the festival. The winners will secure a spot as headliners for the event.
“The goal of this signature event is to boost tourism during the offseason and provide economic support to our local businesses and artists,” Sundin wrote.
The Lodging Tax Advisory Committee, or LTAC, unanimously chose Bellingham Exit after requesting proposals for a new music event to bring to town.
To kick start it, Bellingham Exit is set to receive $85,000 in lodging tax revenue allocated by the LTAC after the City Council approved its contract on May 9.
