COVID cases on the rise, county now medium risk

175 cases per 100,000 reported

The county reported approximately 175 cases per 100,000 for the week of April 19 to 25, according to the county COVID-19 dashboard

The CDC defines counties as medium:

  • If there are fewer than 200 cases per 100,000 and between 10 and 20 hospital admissions.
  • If there are more than 200 cases per 100,000 people and less than 10 hospital admissions due to COVID-19.

The Whatcom County Health Department strongly encourages people to continue wearing masks. A higher-quality mask, like an N95 or KN95, is most effective.

The county recommends that people stock up on at-home COVID-19 tests, stay home if sick and get vaccinated.
