It’s difficult to experience the same joys as an adult that you were able to as a child. Monkey bars just don’t have the same appeal when your feet touch the ground.
That didn’t stop the city of Bellingham from completing the Maritime Heritage Park slide in May of last year.
Maritime Heritage Park is near Bellingham’s waterfront, already making it a popular stop for those visiting the city or people trying to walk around and digest all the food they ate at Bayou on Bay.
The construction surrounding the slide proceeded quickly, making it appear as if it came out of nowhere if you hadn’t visited the park in a while.
The structure consists of two slides: a smaller version intended for children, and its larger counterpart for big kids and/or adults.
The larger embankment slide is 21 feet long with a 12-foot vertical drop, just long enough to entice grown-ups.
