Blaine motorcyclist dies in I-5, Lakeway Drive accident

Second vehicle struck by guardrail

Blaine motorcyclist Vincent Englert, 37, was pronounced dead Thursday night after he drove off the road going north on Interstate 5, sending him crashing through a guardrail and over a cement barrier, onto Lakeway Drive below. The guardrail struck a second car traveling on Lakeway Drive.

The driver of the second vehicle, Steven Ayers, 73, of Bellingham, was uninjured.

The crash was attributed to speed and aggressive driving, according to a Washington State Patrol release.

Englert was wearing a helmet and no drugs or alcohol were involved in the incident, the release stated.
