Western hosts MMIP walk, Coastal Jam

More than 200 people attended the Spring Coastal Jam May 5 at Western Washington University’s Carver Gym. The event was hosted by Western’s Native American Student Union and Lhaq’temish and Blackhawk singers.
Prior to dinner and dancing, dozens walked around the campus donning red and shouting the names of missing and murdered indigenous people. The walk was organized by the Lummi Victims of Crime unit for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Persons Awareness Day.
