Bellingham man arrested for sexual assaults involving minors dating back to 2002

Suspect was accused of more than two dozen crimes

Bellingham resident Brian Drake, 31, was arrested Tuesday, Sept. 19 and accused of more than two dozen felonies, including child rape, child molestation, and incest, according to the Whatcom County Sheriff's Office.

The incidents of alleged abuse occurred between 2002 and 2009 to children known to Drake, when Drake was between 10 and 17 years old, WCSO spokesperson Deb Slater wrote in a press release. The release stated detectives took over an investigation of sexual assaults involving minors in February 2023.

The suspect was accused of three counts of rape of a child in the first degree, seven counts of child molestation in the first degree, three counts of indecent liberties, assault in the second degree with sexual motivation, incest in the first degree, intimidating a witness and more. 

During an interview, Drake admitted to sexually assaulting the minors, the release stated.

Drake was arrested at around 2:30 p.m. at his home without incident and is being held on $350,000 bail.
