A three-vehicle collision closed all traffic on a stretch of Hannegan Road on Wednesday night, the Whatcom County Sherrif’s Office said.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to a collision at 4:50 p.m. near the intersection of East Smith Road and Hannegan Road. Hannegan is currently closed from East Smith to Kelly Road.

“There were critical injuries,” Whatcom County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Deb Slater said in an email. “This is an active investigation. No other information will be released at this time.”

Slater said the sheriff’s office will update its Facebook page when Hannegan Road has been reopened.
