City of Bellingham Public Works and Natural Resources Committee Meeting, 1 p.m., Monday, Aug. 7, 210 Lottie St.
Committee members will receive an update on the Post Point Resource Recovery Plant — the aging wastewater treatment plant near Fairhaven.

Last year, council members and city staff opted to suspend a $1 billion construction project at the facility. Now, staff are moving forward with repair and rehabilitation projects onsite.

Bellingham City Council, 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 7, 210 Lottie St.
Council will consider spending American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) money on the Bellingham Food Bank, the Base Camp homeless shelter and a property near Bellis Fair mall for affordable housing.

Whatcom County Council, 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8, 311 Grand Ave., Bellingham
Council will consider introducing a resolution to make the county sheriff an appointed rather than elected position, beginning in 2028.

Bellingham is updating its Comprehensive Plan, the document it uses to guide growth toward a 20-year vision for the future. This update is due in 2025 and will guide development, capital investments, city programs and other actions across the city as it works toward its vision for 2045. Survey online.
