Bellingham Police were searching Saturday for a suspect in an armed robbery at Cascade Herban Convenience store on the 1200 block of East Maple Street, in the Sehome neighborhood.

The suspect in the robbery, reported around 11:30 a.m. Saturday, was wearing a gray hoodie, with a black vest and bright blue shoes, Trevor Taylor, the clerk working at the time of the incident, told the Cascadia Daily News.

The suspect was described as a white male in his late 20s, 6 feet tall, 150 pounds with a white face covering and tan pants, according to a statement from Bellingham Police Department.

The suspect brandished a handgun and tapped it on the counter, demanding money from the register, police said.

Taylor handed the man a stack of $20 bills, at which point the suspect fled on foot. The police arrived on the scene shortly after and closed off the area, but could not locate the suspect.

“There was a canine track attempted, but it did not yield the suspect,” said Lt. Claudia Murphy, public information officer for BPD.

Security cameras captured images of the man, and police are using these to aid in their search.

The convenience store, in the Sehome neighborhood, is immediately adjacent to the Cascade Herb Company.

Anyone who sees the suspect should dial 911 immediately and consider him armed and dangerous. If you have information about the suspect’s identity, contact BPD at (360) 778-8611 or www.cob.org/tips.
