The The Rohr Center for Jewish Life hosted a menorah lighting Thursday, Dec. 26 at Bellis Fair mall. Rabbi Avremi Yarmush lit the second lamp to mark the second night of Hanukkah.
During the ceremony, Yarmush reflected on the first public menorah lighting in the United States, which happened 50 years ago. Now, thousands of public menorahs are lit across the country each year.
“We are the menorah,” he said to a group of more than 60 people. “We are the light that illuminates the darkness.”
