JESSE’S PICKS
Bob Log III
8 p.m. Wednesday, March 12
The Shakedown, 1212 N. State St.
Bob Log III is a hard-touring slide guitarist and one-man-band from Tucson, Arizona, who is fairly notorious for his chaotic stage shows. He’s forever etched into Bellingham music history for being the last performer to take the stage at the old 3B. He’s back in town for a show at the Shakedown on Wednesday, March 12 with local support from Duos and Island Gigantism, two locals who also know a thing or two about going wild on stage.
Altan
7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 13
Lincoln Theatre, 712 S. 1st St., Mount Vernon
We’re starting to get close to St. Patrick’s Day territory, which means Irish folk music all over the place. (The schedules aren’t all out yet, but expect lots at Boundary Bay and Uisce in particular.) However, if you want quality over quantity, the move is going to be to head to the Lincoln Theatre on Thursday, March 13 to catch Altan, major figures in the 1990’s post-Riverdance Celtic music boom who have continued touring the world ever since. They’ve got beautiful ballads and lively instrumentals that show off the distinctive fiddle style of County Donegal.
Slowfall
8 p.m. Friday, March 14
The Blue Room, 202 E. Holly St. Unit 301
Slowfall are a promising young bunch of indie rockers out of Bellingham High School. They’ve been working hard for a while now on their debut album, “Peach St.,” and they’re celebrating its release with an all-ages show at The Blue Room on Friday, March 14. I’ve had the chance to preview a few tracks and I think they’re cooking up something pretty special. Seattle’s King Youngblood and Beautiful Freaks are also on the bill, both of whom would normally headline that space, so it should be a big show.
Hernamewasprincess
8 p.m. Saturday, March 15
Honey Moon Mead and Cider, 1053 N. State St.
Hernamewasprincess is a hushed, almost spooky indie folk project that creator C.S. Christofferson had been working on for some 15 years before finally releasing an album last year, and starting to play some occasional live shows with collaborator Tim Mechling. They’ll be at the Honey Moon on Saturday, March 15 along with a solo set from Mechling, plus a headlining acoustic set from Biff Got Killed.
