Blaine and Mount Vernon girls capture district bowling titles

Anacortes sends two bowlers to state, Ferndale and Burlington-Edison send one

Blaine and Mount Vernon won their respective district championship and four other individual bowlers are also headed to state following District 1 bowling tournaments Tuesday, Jan. 28 at Riverside Lanes in Mount Vernon.

At 1A/2A districts, the top team and top three individuals not from a qualifying team earned a state berth at Bowlero in Tukwila Feb. 7–8.

Blaine won the 1A/2A classification with 2,790 pins knocked down. Burlington-Edison finished second with 2,686, Anacortes placed third with 2,606 and Meridian came in fourth with 2,472.

Anacortes’ Trinity Erickson finished in first place with a score of 742 pins in four games. Her teammate Morgan Gudmundson finished third with a score of 615, while Tigers’ Kelisa Beck finished second with 722.

In the 3A division, Mount Vernon secured the only team berth after scoring 3,134 pins. Everett finished second with 2,579 and Ferndale placed third with 2,563. In the 3A division, the top two bowlers not on Mount Vernon’s roster also secured a state berth. The first berth went to an Everett bowler while the second went to Ferndale’s Madison McFadden.
