Boy Scouts to pick up Christmas trees Saturday

Place trees by public street by 8 a.m.; households only

By Charlotte Alden General Assignment/Enterprise Reporter

Boy Scouts across the region will pick up Christmas trees on Saturday, Jan. 4.

Troops will be picking up trees from houses in Bellingham, Sudden Valley, Ferndale, Birch Bay, Blaine, Lynden and Everson, in locations outlined in this map. The troops will not be picking up trees at apartments, mobile home parks or other similar locations.

The troops request that trees be placed outside by the public street by 8 a.m. on Saturday, and outside any gates in front of homes. The troops will not stop in areas where it would be dangerous to stop, such as parts of Chuckanut Drive, so those houses should place trees in a “safely accessible location,” according to a Bellingham troop’s website

In Mount Vernon, Boy Scouts will also be picking up trees on Saturday, and will dispose of them at the City of Mount Vernon’s yard waste facility. The scouts ask that people place their trees on the curbside by 9 a.m. Pickups are free, but the scouts appreciate donations to help fund local Boy Scouts of America events and activities.
