Whatcom County Health and Community Services will host seven vaccine clinics this year, with no-cost vaccines available for children and adults without medical insurance.
This year, the clinics will be located in Bellingham at 800 E. Chestnut St. in Suite 1B. They’ll run from 2:30–5 p.m. on March 4, April 8, May 6, June 3, July 8, Aug. 5 and Sept. 9.
For children, the clinics will provide all routinely recommended vaccines except MMR, Varicella, COVID, MenB, Hib and Rotavirus. Adults can receive vaccines for Tdap, Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B and the flu.
The clinics will only serve walk-in patients, but people who have an “urgent need” or would like to schedule an appointment outside of the clinics can contact the health department at immunizations@co.whatcom.wa.us, or call 360-778-6100.
Adults with medical insurance should seek vaccines at local pharmacies or health care facilities, according to the health department’s press release.
“Getting vaccinated is one of the most effective ways to prevent serious illness and protect your health,” said Dr. Amy Harley, co-health officer for Whatcom County Health and Community Services, in a news release. “Vaccines work by helping your body better defend itself against disease, protecting your health and decreasing the number of infections in our community. They are a preventative step everyone can take to keep themselves, their families and our communities safe.”
