JESSE’S PICKS

Peace Centers Auction and Fundraiser

5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 24
Boundary Bay Brewery, 1107 Railroad Ave.

Peace Centers is a local organization involved in an array of important causes. It’s hosting a benefit on Monday, Feb. 24 at Boundary Bay Brewery with a pretty stellar lineup, including Joel Ricci spinning funk 45s, Indigenous flute music from Peter Ali, Pete Irving from Hot Damn Scandal and bluesy rock from the headliners, the Jasmine Greene Band. Proceeds will help with a major new project: creating a way to match child care providers in Whatcom County who have openings for emergency or drop-in child care with families in need of services.

BALTHVS

8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 27
Wild Buffalo, 208 W. Holly St.

BALTHVS is a psychedelic rock trio all the way from Colombia, with deep grooves on the bass and drums supporting wild, exploratory guitar solos and melodies. Their show at the Wild Buffalo on Thursday, Feb. 27 is being presented by the team that puts on the Bellingham Exit festival, which is also nice to see.

John McEuen and the Circle Band

7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28
Lincoln Theatre, 712 1st St., Mount Vernon

John McEuen was one of the founding members of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, best known for their classic album “Will The Circle Be Unbroken.” He’s at the Lincoln Theatre on Friday, Feb. 28, for a show at the crossroads of country, folk and bluegrass. He and his band will play a bunch of his best-known songs, and he’ll also tell stories from his 45 years on the road and in the studio.

Stereo Donkey

7 p.m. Saturday, March 1
Fairhaven Rug Gallery, 901 Harris Ave.

It’s been a while since we’ve had much activity from Stereo Donkey, the local surf/garage trio which features former Soundgarden bassist Hiro Yamamoto. They’ve back in action with a show at the Fairhaven Rug Gallery, on Saturday, March 1. This is the first I’ve heard of that space being used as a music venue, so I’m pretty curious to see exactly what’s going on there.
