With the warm weather over the past few weeks, Wednesday’s rainfall was a welcome change. It also set a daily record for precipitation, according to the National Weather Service.
The Bellingham International Airport recorded 1 inch of rain on Wednesday, breaking the previous single-day record for Sept. 25 of 0.47 inches set in 1956, said Harrison Rademacher, a meteorologist for the NWS.
It’s been a slightly wetter September than average as well. Normally, Bellingham receives 1.6 inches of rain during the month, Rademacher said. Bellingham has received 1.77 inches of rain for the month, mostly thanks to yesterday.
While there will be a break from the rain during the day Thursday, rain is expected overnight, according to the NWS. Then the clouds will lift for a nice fall weekend.
