JESSE’S PICKS

Flagship Romance
7–9 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, FireHouse Arts and Events Center, 1314 Harris Ave.

Flagship Romance are a married couple/musical duo all the way from Louisville, Kentucky who tour constantly behind their sweetly positive alternative folk originals. They’ve honed their harmonies to an absurd level of tightness. They’ll make their way to the FireHouse PAC on Tuesday, Oct. 1.

Ragefest
7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, The Blue Room, 202 E. Holly St., Units 301 and 401

I wrote back at the beginning of the year about how WWU’s new fashion magazine, The Rage, was planning on hosting regular musical events. The latest iteration of Ragefest is Friday, Oct. 4 at the Blue Room and features a packed lineup of high-energy young rockers with Drayton, King Youngblood and Instant Crush, plus fashion vendors and more. You’re going to want to dress to impress for this one.

Skerik
8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, Odd Fellows Temple Room, 311 E. Holly St.

Seattle-based saxophonist Skerik is a familiar face to lovers of the more adventurous side of jazz, as well as from his collaborations with a bunch of the big names on the Seattle rock scene. (I’m still a big fan of the albums he did with Tuatara back in the ’90s and early 2000s, featuring Peter Buck, Barrett Martin and Justin Harwood, though I don’t expect this show to sound anything like that.) He comes up here a lot with different projects, and he’ll be at the Odd Fellows Temple Room at the Orion with a quartet on Saturday, Oct. 5.
