WECU/CDN Game of the Week: Lynden at Anacortes
When: 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27, Anacortes High School
Lynden record: 3-0
Anacortes record: 3-0
Final prediction: Anacortes 35-31
Anacortes and Lynden enter this Week 4 matchup as two of the top teams in the 2A classification.
Anacortes is trying to prove last season’s historic success wasn’t a fluke. The Seahawks are averaging 50 points per game and allowing less than three per game. The Seahawks won their first state title last season and return nearly all their starters.
Lynden hopes to avenge its loss against the Seahawks last year with another talented roster. The Lions are averaging 42 points per game with their aerial attack.
Lynden player to watch: QB Brant Heppner, senior
Heppner is a 6-foot-6, 210-pound dual-threat quarterback with a variety of weapons on offense. He helped lead the Lions to a state title two years ago and looks to capture another this season.
Anacortes player to watch: QB Ryan Harrington, sophomore
Harrington has already been considered one of the top quarterbacks in the area. He finished last season 7-for-9 for 182 yards and four touchdowns. He also has many weapons, including twins Brady and Brock Beaner, to help boost his stats.
