Undefeated Sehome boys tennis had no trouble dispatching Sedro-Woolley in a 7-0 sweeping of the Cubs during a Northwest Conference match Wednesday, Sept. 18 at Sehome High School.
The Mariners came into the match with a 4-0 record and winning 25 out of 28 individual matches, while the Cubs were 0-4, going 0-21 in matches.
Sehome’s top singles player, Harley Kaiser, faced Sedro Woolley’s Jordan Janicki and won 6-0, 6-0.
Sehome’s Zach Chai defeated Sedro-Woolley’s Trey Gardner 6-1, 6-0 in No. 2 singles.
The Mariners made some late changes to the singles roster, putting Josh Frieson in at third singles. Frieson dominated the first set, 6-0, and came away with a 6-3 win in the second set.
Sehome’s Noah Hawkins won the fourth and final singles match 6-0, 6-0 against Sedro-Woolley’s Colton Knutson.
The first doubles match featured Mariners’ Justin Barras and Jae-Yoon Lee facing off against Cubs’ Parker Boal and Declan Harp. Barras and Lee won the match 6-1, 6-1. Sehome’s Christian Leon and Sean Lane defeated Sedro-Woolley’s Noah Hohmann and Logan Boal 6-0, 6-0 in second doubles.
Mariners’ Quinn Crocheron and Grady Boudreaux finished the evening with a 6-0, 6-0 victory against Cubs’ Jaxson Bond and Alex Moore in third doubles.
Sehome (5-0, 32-3) and Sedro-Woolley (0-4, 0-28) will return to Sehome High Friday, Sept. 20 and Saturday, Sept. 21 for a District 1 2A Doubles Invite.
