JESSE’S PICKS

Ion Fyfe
7–9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, New Prospect Theatre, 207 Prospect St.

The Scottish singer Iona Fyfe combines a deep love and understanding for the traditional ballads of Scotland with a modern bent. She’s performing at the New Prospect Theatre on Wednesday, Sept. 25.

Mariachi Herencia de Mexico
7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, Mount Baker Theatre, 104 N. Commercial St,

For another big event with international flair, Mariachi Herencia de Mexico are coming to the Mount Baker Theatre on Thursday, Sept. 26. If you like mariachi, this crew is pretty much the top of the line. (It’s a big week for music at the MBT, with tickets still available as of my deadline for Squirrel Nut Zippers on Wednesday, Sept. 25 and Ben Folds on Saturday, Sept. 28.)

Cozmic Sauce
6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27, Boundary Bay Brewery, 1107 Railroad Ave.

We’re getting toward the end of outdoor music season, so on Friday, Sept. 27 you might want to think about heading to Boundary Bay for one last fish fry, with funky horn-based jams from Cozmic Sauce providing the soundtrack.

Dryland, Boxcutter, Energy Pyramid
7–10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, Waterfront DIY Skatepark

If you want something outside but also loud and wild, there’s a very cool show happening at the Waterfront DIY Skatepark on Saturday, Sept. 28, with Dryland (metal), Boxcutter (punk) and Energy Pyramid (instrumental) joining forces on a triple bill. The event is put on by NW Skate Collective, so bring your board or just enjoy the sight of skateboarders doing tricks behind the bands.
