State Route 547/Reese Hill Road in Sumas will be closed in both directions for road maintenance Sept. 16–19, and will have detours for travelers.
From 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, Monday, Sept. 16 to Thursday, Sept. 19, road crews will be stabilizing an eroding bank along Saar Creek. A signed detour will guide traffic around the closure.
Northbound travelers should head west on South Pass Road to northbound State Route 9 toward Sumas.
Southbound travelers should use Telegraph and Morgan roads, southbound State Route 9 and State Route 542/Mount Baker Highway to access Kendall and Maple Falls.
Washington State Department of Transportation crews are installing 2,400 large rocks and 10 trees with root balls along the eroded bank, in an effort to help realign the creek and protect the highway.
