Kase Namminga is entering his second season in Lynden’s tennis program.
“It’s a little intimidating at first with all the rules — and tough to follow,” Namminga said. “Once you get it, it is really fun to hit it back and forth.”
Namminga begins his junior year at Lynden and is fighting for the top singles spot on the squad. Namminga decided to try out for the tennis team because he loves to exercise, his friends were competing and he did not enjoy playing other sports.
“It’s a lot less physical and more mental,” Namminga said. “The coaches help so much and make sure we have fun on the tennis courts.”
Last season Namminga played doubles, but has since trained twice a week in the offseason in hopes of making the Lions’ singles squad.
When Namminga is not playing tennis he is studying for his classes and partaking in the Future Business Leaders of America organization.
Even though Namminga is still developing in tennis, he hopes to play in college, even if it is at a lower level.
