Football forecast: Concrete and Lummi battle in 8-man football

Whatcom and Skagit County football teams prepare for fifth week of the season

CDN Game of the Week: Concrete at Lummi Nation

When: Friday, Oct. 4 at 6 p.m., Lummi Nation School

Concrete record: 1-3

Lummi record: 0-3

Final prediction: Concrete 42-21

Lummi will be looking for its first victory of the 2024 8-man football season on its home field against the Concrete Lions. The Lions had a slow start to the season, losing their first three games while scoring 26 points per game. Concrete’s offense exploded in its last matchup, however, winning 80-26 against La Conner.

Lummi has averaged 14 points per game this season while allowing 36 points. The Blackhawks have played three of the top four teams in the league, who have a combined 10-1 record.

Concrete player to watch: QB/DE Josiah Rider, senior

Rider has played quarterback for the Lions since he was in eighth grade. Although he did not start until last season, he has totaled 1,257 passing yards, 1,243 rushing yards, 144 receiving yards and 43 touchdowns. He also has over 100 tackles in his career.

Lummi player to watch: QB/DE Chico Abram, senior

Abram is a two-way playmaker for the Blackhawks. The 6-foot-3 187-pound senior has the ability to make plays both through the air and on the ground.
